NCLT 104 LifeTrack Writing Skills & Strategies

3 Hours Communication Skills or Electives

Instructor: Ms. Serena Blount or Dr. Diana Barrett

Purpose

To equip LifeTrack students with the knowledge and writing skills necessary to write college-level papers.

Learning Objectives

The objectives of this course are to help the student:

  1. Identify certain mechanical weak spots
  2. Better organize and focus ideas
  3. Sharpen potentially fine prose and perhaps discover a winning writing style
  4. Understand that writing is a process, and that the heart of this process is revision. This course is divided into five parts, an overview and 4 assignments, and is taught as a series of writing exercises. The course overview will be given on campus during the LifeTrack Program orientation. Students will submit assignments in the Blackboard portal and the contract director will mark and grade each exercise, making comments as necessary.
