New College LifeTrack students have access to a variety of ways to earn credit.
New College LifeTrack Courses
Students can enroll in New College LifeTrack distance courses. These classes are specifically designed for adult students. To learn about specific course offerings, visit the UA catalog. In addition to the catalog courses, Special Topics courses are offered each semester on a wide range of topics in the areas of Leadership, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Community Studies, and Humanities. To see specific offerings each term, log in to myBama, click on Class Schedule and select “NCLT- New College LifeTrack” next to Subject.
Seminar and Travel Courses
Students can enroll in New College LifeTrack Seminar or Travel courses. While not required, many students enjoy having the opportunity to come to Tuscaloosa and take a weekend class on campus. Typically, these classes involve coming to Tuscaloosa 1-2 times during the semester. Additional coursework is completed at a distance. Travel classes are also offered each semester with upcoming travel courses planned to Montgomery, New Orleans, and Dauphin Island.
UA Online Courses
New College LifeTrack students have access to many courses offered across campus through UA Online. Many classes that are a part of the core curriculum are available online as well as courses in a range of subject areas. To search for available distance courses, log in to myBama, click on Class Schedule, and select term. After selecting the subjects you are interested in, select “Online-DL/Gadsden Students” next to Campus.
Student-Designed Contracts
Students have the option to create a Student-Designed Contract which is a type of independent study course. If there is an academic subject you are interested in but not an existing class at UA, you have the option to design your own! More information about student-designed courses will be provided in NCLT 101: Foundations of Adult Learning and you can also ask your advisor for assistance.
